Illegal Timber Seized by Dhupguri Police While Trafficking

Webdesk, TNI Dhupguri, 22nd March 2017: A Truck full of illegal timber was recovered at Dhupguri today. Two people were arrested in this connection. The incident happened yesterday night. According to the police sources, the truck laden with timber was heading towards Siliguri through Dhupguri town. After interrogation, it is learned that the truck was coming from Meghalaya. The arrested were Md. Mahun and Asif Khan. Questions are raised that how a truck entered West Bengal from Meghalaya without any checking. The IC of Dhupguri Police Station Mr. Sanjay Dutta told TNI that the truck consisted of Saal and other highly valuable timber worth Rs. 18 -20 Lakhs in the market. The truck has been seized and an investigation is going on.
